After shooting Standard Velocity in this CIL 300 all
it's life we decided to step up to CCI Stingers 32gr @ 1640 fps.

1 magazine (10) plus 1 this occurred .

I don't see any signs of earlier fractures , could it be the Stingers ?

Bolt velocity would be higher, so perhaps the Stingers may have been a factor.
Don't shoot Stingers in your Favorites...

Sure looks like a pot metal break to me.

Yep. It could have happened by a hit on the buttstock. The Stigner get their velocity because of the use of a light bullet. They are not overpressure load but well within SAMI specs for commercial ammo.

Look at the grain structure of the break..large grains instead of tight grains .
That was a metal failure waiting to happen.

This is the only rifle I've shot Stingers thru , I wouldn't
chamber Stingers in any others (Anschutz , Coopers or CZ's)
as they have Match or low tolerance chambers.

As for the ''Favorites'' those neither ######

Well when you use ammo it wasn't made for, or existed at the time. It is bound to happen. That bolt would be slamming back harder than the springs were designed for. So it may handle the chamber pressure, other parts may not.

Fixed!

I'd be surprised if stingers would do that. They're louder but I don't notice much difference shooting them vs others unless they're subsonic/CB/etc

‘’ My buddy used stingers in my S&W 622 and it budged it.’’

The only way to bulge a barrel is if there is an obstruction…a defective round not recognized by the shooter as a weak pop instead of the normal report. He the pulled the slide and shot again.

That can happen with any type or brand of rimfire rounds and even centerfire ammo. Blame the shooter for his lack of knowledge by not recognized the type of failure and check things out before firing another round in the back of the stuck bullet.

Have you ever shot Stigner ? Same recoil - same chamber pressure than regular ammo. It take pressure to drive a bolt harder. I shoot them in a 1960 Remington Nylon by the way..

The Stigner exist since 1975 - 48 years in production - and have been shot in a mirad of guns - pre-75 with any report of gun failures.

I absolutely do not believe the Stigner or any .22 LR ammo will do that.

It didnt budge the barrel, it buldged the alum frame. And stingers were the cause if it.

You're trying to tell me a 36grn at 1200 and 32gr at 1600 fps has the same felt recoil? Umm there will be difference in pressure. So what it existed for 48 years, the gun is designed in Europe. Which I'm sure hyper velocity isnt a thing. Speed is more of an American thing.

I was a warranty smith back in those days and saw a lot of 300's blow up with high velocity long rifle. It was a schit rifle with nothing but problems. Most of the blow ups were just the extractor blowing out and the bottom of the magazine blowing off... the following models were not much better... added a screw to help keep thre extractor in, added a deflection guard to help keep the debris from your face. The whole series was the worst rifle Anschutz ever made. I would never own one.

As far as I am concerned Stingers should only be fired in quality bolt action rifles.

skwerl. mine did the same thing as yours. I was just using regular 22 lr ammo. when mine broke. I still have it today. never did get it fixed. I have a lot of hunting times with that 22. when I was younger.
