Wiki said the PPU (maybe S&B )rounds are designed with higher pressure for modern bolt actions, old M96 can't use them safely?

Is this true? I saw some one use PPU on their M96 and so far so good.

Well, if Wiki said so..

Seriously, PPU ammo was the most affordable for years. Thousands of PPU cartridges were shot through M/94, 96 and 38, plus Ljungman.
VihtaVuory speaks of the 6.5x55 SKAN a boosted version of the 6.5x55.
PPU, Norma and S&B are perfectly suitable for the old rifle under CIP. Hornady is loaded BELOW CIP standards.

My M96 does pretty well with PPU 139grn. Everything usually stays well within two inches at a hundred yards which isn't bad with me doing the shooting and it hasn't blown up yet.

I believe S&B accuracy out performs PPU.

Should I say there is always a tolerance margine when talking about the PSI. I read something on line saying Swiss has over pressure testing to their rifles like K31 using designed hot rounds, not sure if Swedish also has that.

I have an 1898 m/96, and bought a load of PPU to get the cases.

I have a 1954 K31 and bought a load of PPU to get the cases.

I chrono'ed the 6.5x55 and the 7.5x55 and found that both were around 200fps slower than the service round.

This is shown up by using the sight setting at the appropriate ranges.

Your mileage may differ.
