I have a remington 5r .308 in a MDT tac 21 chassis with a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50.
Currently I have a set of medium Leupold PRW medium height rings, but there is ZERO clearance between the scope and chassis. They are actually touching, and on top of that, I am unable to see full scope with out a lot of wiggling around. I could use some advice on rings for this system. Is it worth putting high end rings on? What would you suggest? I value the feedback from this community, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

O

Thanks, I am going to consider them. I have looked at the ATRS rings, but hadn't actually heard any reviews of them. I would like to send my rifle to them for a couple of extra modifications. i have heard good things about their modern hunter series. I have not heard of the Burris rings before, but I will take a look.

Actually, mdt has the cut away forend on sale right now for a really good price. Might be worth a try. I run those forends on both my guns.

With the way the TAC21 is setup with the comb of the buttstock being more or less inline with the top rail, if you are running the cut-out and lower rings, isn't head placement awkward?

I'm running vortex medium or high rings on one (2.34" above bore)and an adm mount on the other. My head placement feels fine. I'm running a 60mm objective though.

For a TAC21, yes you'll definitely need high rings.
Personally, I really like the Burris Signature Zee rings.

Another vote for Burris Sig Zees. They don't break the bank, and they have been nothing but rock solid for me. The ability to easily cant the scope, and to be confident in no ring marks is a big bonus.

Thanks,
Cal.
