Tried my first attempt at making my own Kaydex holster today.. It turned out ok! So I thought I'd share. It's made from a sheet of standard black kaydex, the belt loop is a tek-lock style clip, and I made sure to add in adjustable retention using a screw and a rubber washer.

For anyone on the fence about making one of these, it was much easier than I expected and with a bit of help from youtube and a bit of time spent carefully planning and prepping the gun to mold properly, it was no problem to do on the my first try. I think just about anyone could do it.

I'll be doing another pistol later in the week, and a few folding knives. I think I might make a case for my gps unit that goes hiking with me as well.

You have the right attitude in doing this yourself. The price of holsters is pretty crazy for the decent ones nowadays. Also, for some guns it is almost impossible to find a holster. Of course you know this already, hence your experiment. It looks good but be wary of the screws on top when holstering.

be wary of the screws on top when holstering.

I taped a wooden block in place on the side of the pistol where those screws are before forming. You can kind of see the outline of the square in the pictures. This keeps just enough clearance between those screws and the gun. But yes, that was one of the areas that took a little bit of pre-planning and problem solving. I could still see accidentally scratching near the muzzle if I completely miss while holstering. Maybe cover them with some felt or something....

Just curious how much did the kydex cost?

I ordered it from knifekits.com in the US. Shipping was really bad, and then I got hit with a brokerage fee when it got delivered. I ordered a few sheets along with foam for a makeshift forming press, and some hardware (screws and eyelets) from them. The Kydex itself is anywhere from $20 to $30 a sheet (4x2 ft) for the black stuff and gets more expensive for the patterned designs. I used maybe $10 worth of material plus the hardware on this holster. I've since found a local leather store in Calgary that sells Kydex for about $25 a sheet so I'll be buying from them in the future.

Nice job! For anyone who may be a bit reluctant to give making your own a try, there is a guy in Michigan called "Pyntek" that makes holsters for just about anything (including 4 different Bersa models), and if he doesn't have a mold for your gun, he seems to be very willing to get the mold. The only glitch is that he is just trying to add Canada to his billing and shipping area on his website. He has a wide variety of colours and camos if that is what you want. His "Down Zero" and "X80" holsters are suitable for IDPA.

I have been exchanging emails with him about getting a holster shipped to me, but if there is a larger interest expressed in Canada, then it might be worth it for him

Go to eBay, type in Fobus Bersa -- voila! There is your holster!
There are other holsters for Bersa as well on eBay.
Had no problem finding exact fit holsters. Also plenty of speed holster options that fit all the other guns (adjustable).
