Gun Storage. Would a lockable metal case be ok?

Ammo Storage. Does seperate mean in a different container, different room, different area of room, differnt area of same closet?

Registered Address. Do the guns need to be stored at your licence address? What if say you want to store your guns at the cottage and your home address is in the city?

As of right now I have trigger locks placed on both guns being stored in my bedroom closet. My ammo is being stored under my bed in the boxes it came in, is that ok? There is a lock on my bedroom door.

Also, is there some type of course I can take to learn how to properly clean my guns?

1. Yes, that would be okay. It would be better to have a proper gun safe, as you need to allow some air circulation so the gun doesn't rust up quicker.
2. It can be stored in the same container if locked, but much better to store it somewhere else.
3. Don't know that one.
4. That is okay, but I would personally store the guns in a gun safe, and the ammo locked up elsewhere.
5. Not that I've heard of, but theres a ton of videos and information on the internet. You can probably get an experienced person to help with it as well.

Registered address. For restricted it definitely needs to be stored at the address it's registered to. I'm not sure about non-restricteds.

hdave covered the rest.

For storing firearms though, the registered address can be changed. Might cause some trouble with the ATTs though

I do not own any restricted or prohibited guns both are non-restricted.

Im still confused about the ammo though... The word "seperate" is a very opinion based word that can be different to everyone. To me ammo under bed and gun in closet is seperate. But since its in the same room may be not considered seperate to someone else.

About the registered address... Say I changed my address to my cottage then all my mail regarding my licence etc would be sent there rather then my home which I do not want.

You can always buy ammo cases, they lock with tiny key locks, store 50-100 rounds and are dirt cheap.

I have a crate of 7.62x39 that is stored in the box it came in already that would require alot more effort to unpack and repack in a dozen ammo cases then to just leave as is in one box.

Definitely, personally, I don't think you have much to worry about, just keep the guns locked up securely, you should be alright.

You can take the wording too seriously, because if you do, you'll find that just about every passage in the firearms act can be interpreted in a way that ####s the legal gun owner.

Ok just wanted to make sure, my guns are ALWAYS locked I just wanted to make sure that my unlocked ammo being stored in the same room as my locked guns was ok since this "keep ammo seperate" wording is slightly confusing. Thanks.

Directly from the CFC website on ammunition:

Store the ammunition separately or lock it up. It can be stored in the same locked container as the firearm.

You're right about the wording though. There are a lot of things in the Firearms Act that are open to interpretation. The gist of it though, is that as long as the firearm is properly stored/secured, you can keep the ammo anywhere you want.

What is separate? How long is a piece of string? I keep my guns locked up, my ammo is not, it's all in an unlocked room in my basement, that no-one but me goes in. Seeing as my guns are locked up, my ammo is separate from them. If the ammo were locked in the same box, that'd be ok, too. Just don't have loose guns, with ammo sitting next to them, you are good. Separate is not defined by the law, so use your best judgement, realizing you may need to explain your judgement to a judge in a court of law one day, if ever a Police officer's definition of separate differs from your own.
