I have been shooting IPSC, IDPA and PPC for a bit now, looking to make the move to 3 gun this summer. I am looking for some help in the equipment department, just to be clear I am not interested in spending thousands. I am looking at using either my Shadow or PPX for handgun, I have an 870 Remington tactical with tube extension and ATI collapsible stock, hoping this will work for shotgun. Snagged a great deal on an NEA 16" AR on a Black Monday deal (insert NEA commentary here). So I am assuming I am good as far as guns goes. Next on the list are a couple of things to complete the deal, this is where I could use some help.

- AR mags, not sure what the best option is here and how many do i need
- Shotshell and AR mag holders. I have a good start on a second CR speed belt for the Shadow with mag holders, just need to complete with the long gun ones
- Optics for AR, again trying to keep this reasonable price wise (under $300). I know there is movement to 1-4 optics but is red-dot still effective?

I use the Chameleon LoadTwo belt for shotshells. I bought two when I ordered, one is new in package and for sale. PM me if interested.

Red dot works pretty well. I would say 1-6 is ideal, 1-4 good, and red dot will get it done. Anything else is not as good (i.e. 2-7, 3-9, iron).

Speaking of a 1-6, here's the one I use, and it's on sale (open box). Pretty nearly fits into your budget.

Best = Steel Beowulf mags.
2nd = LAR mags.
3rd = Pmags.

Shotgun Shell Holders:

Best = Carbon Arms pinwheels.
2nd = AP Customs load two's.
3rd = AP Customs classic 4.

In that price range its tuff to find a good optic. I'd buy a vortex spark, zero, and practice at ranges from point blank to 300 yds.
