I'm on a bit of a shotgun kick. Couple of questions. Been a while since I've shot 12g. Patterned a new to me pump a couple of days ago. Target load, #4, 00 and slugs. I think the turkey loads kicked the hardest:) Questions there was a smudge at the beginning of the bore that was hard to remove. Thinking from the wad? What do you use? And do you use grease anywhere like the slide or all oil. Using a pump. And probably getting another pump or semi soon.

A large 12 gauge brush with some steel wool on it... a few passes through the bore should get rid of the plastic. Really fouled bores - spin the steel wool with a drill running back and forth...

G96 Gun Treatment spray it on, wait a minute, wipe off excess.

When I bother to clean a shotgun barrel I spray some g96 down it and run a brass brush attached to a drill through it and repeat till all the plastic wad fouling is gone, I use some sort of oil on the action bars etc. G96 or Hoppes9 oil, I lube regularly but clean only when it needs it.

Likely to get flamed but I find WD-40 is pretty slick for taking out the plastic residue. I have a wood dowel with some paper towel patches and a few squirts of wd-40 to clean up the bores when I need to. It's a smoothbore- don't need to over think it. Mostly get plastic build up as the wads prevent lead from contacting the bores in most cases.
