I would like to get into Cowboy Acton shooting and would like to try my hand at making my own holsters. Not sure what kind of leather is best for this purpose and how thick it should be. Was looking on the Tandy site and find quite a variety,,, oak tan, veg tan, latigo,,,,???

Any help is appreciated.

Perhaps contacting one of the Cowboy action groups in your area for tips before moving forward..there are a couple of shooters on here I believe.

There are some neat items listed in the EE lately to check out..

Veg tan is what you would use for sheaths and holsters. I would think 8-10 oz leather would be suitable for a holster.

Double shoulder for the holster works well, belts I use veg tan. Just a heads up Tandy is generally over priced for extremely low quality. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
