I have ordered a Puma M92 in .357 Mag. I intend to shoot .38 spl in it. I am not ready to start reloading although I realize that it will eventually be the way to go. I have found that Wolf has .38spl Cowboy at what seems like a great price. My question: What is the word out there as far as ammo? Are there any specific brands that work better?

Cagunman:

I use Wolf's Cowboy ammo (38 spl RNFP) in the Puma 92 as well, works fine. Wolf gets busy at times, and sometimes hard to reach, so it is best to order it as soon as possible.

Rather than a particular brand, at least in the rifle, it seems like the overall length of the cartridge is the most critical criteria in reliable loading. If you use a full stroke and are careful, just about any ammo will cycle through except full wad cutters. I re-load semi wad cutters which I use in my revolvers, but if I run out of the Wolf ammo for the rifle, I've even cycled them through the M 92.

Cagunman:

Sorry, forgot to say about the warning using jacketed ammo or ammo with a sharp point. Remember, it is a tublar magazine in the M 92. There will be a warning in your manual about this. Any ammo with a flat point is the way to go here. The Wolf Cowboy special has a flat point, so it is ok.
