Howdy folks!
I have been getting into Cowboy Action Shooting for the last year or so. I started from scratch. I'm about to order my last guns, a pair of SASS Edition Vaqueros. It's been along time coming. But as any self respecting gun nutz, you'll understand when I say that I'm starting to think of my next purchase. I am thinking it will be a 73 rifle. We've all heard of Longhunter and other american Cowboy Gunsmiths that can make the guns sing. What about Canadian Cowboy Gunsmiths who are the best here in the Great White North?

peter riedel aka "rustywood" is the only cowboy action shooting gunsmith I know on this site. try a google search for rustywood trading company

Lightning Slicker Bill in Ontario is pretty good too, but I don't know Bill's real name- he is at all the events. I will post it if I can find his card somewhere.

Cowboy Action gun smith I is !

I would be more than happy to make your pistols and rifle "sing", that is my specialty.Action jobs including Colt's & all clones, Rugers and all rifles. I even do imports and can order in a set of those SASS Ruger's.

FYI If you are shooting traditional style ( both hands on gun ) I do not recommend the SASS set as they have the Montado style hammers and are not the best for that style shooting. If you shoot duelist or gunfighter then by all means they are the way to go. The Montado hammer is exactly like the Bisley hammers that are lowered with a wider spur area. When shooting duelist or gunfighter they aid in cocking the hammer easier. But when used with both hands ( traditional ) the spur tends to hit the web of the strong hand at full #### and actually impedes fast shooting.

Like Jed said, just Google Rusty Wood and it will take you to my web page.

Best regards, Peter Riedel

I have a Uberti 1866 "Winchester" in .45Colt.
I think you'll find the "Henry" 1860 or the 1866 "Winchester" or the 1873 "Winchester clones will have a good action right out of the box.
The toggle link action on these rifles is pretty smooth without doing anything to them.
