I'm afraid thats where this fellow will end up as I don't think he'll make it to hunting season with a broken leg (shoulder?).
Sorry about the poor pics, my cheap camera really shows its true colors when in digital zoom.
Taken on my way out to the farm, NW of Calgary.

Wolves or Yogi will get it. Pity it's not legal to put it out of its pain. Assuming the leg is broken. I'd be on the phone to the CO's. They might just tell you to do it. Mind you, you may not be able to find it again.
The pictures are good.

He might.

Stranger things have happened. It looks like it's been hurt for a while, and he's still alive, so I'd bet he'll be fine.

Did he have to jump that fence to get into that area or was he outside of the fence? X2 he will make it and excellent chance he will out live the gun season.

It's rack looks like he's going to grow that into a 5 or 6 pointer. I think that he looks kinda scrawny already, he doesn't seem to be in the best of health, besides the bum leg. I don't think that he'll make it either, but that is the circle of life.

I thought about calling F&W, but I think there response would have been to let nature take its course

I think he was probably hit by a car/truck in the last few days and made his way over the fence and into the pasture.

Ya, hes 5 a side now, with a wierd rack shape on his left side. He is about as good as they get around here - we are only 25 minutes out of Calgary in a 3 point or better zone and the elk get hammered pretty hard in Oct/Nov.
Your right, hes not looking well - I saw obvious signs of dehydration and he was panting which I think probably shows he is in pain. He tried to move off after I took the pics, but wasn't even travelling very well on three legs. I looked for him again yesterday, but couldn't see him.
I've seen deer/elk/moose, with legs shot off, survive for several years around here (man they are hard on fences ) but the injury to this bull looks to be up in the shoulder and neck area and much worse than a lower limb injury.
