.223 is nice, absolutely no recoil, look threw the scopes for the impact (easier for second shots), .22-250 has a bit of muzzle jump making it harder to see impacts.

.22-250 is better for long range 300+ shots, can be a bit harder on pelts though

I couldn't decide and bought both, Find myself with the .223 more, but the .22-250 is such an awesome cartridge.
 
Pelt damage is more related to bullet selection than caliber. A FMJ of any caliber will pencil right through an animal without doing much pelt damage unless it hits bone. I personally don't like FMJ's for the reason that they can ricochet. I hunt in populated areas where this is a concern. Proper varmint bullets like the VMAX do a great job of disintegrating in the animal without leaving an exit hole in most cases. I prefer the .223 because of it's light recoil & ballistics. The .22-250 is a high speed caliber that is known to go through barrels quickly. I used a .270 for a few years as my coyote gun & it always got the job done.
