What dose the predetor hunting population of CGN recomend ? I'v been considering the '' screamin quiver rabitt '' decoy from SIR Cabelas . I feel so dirty saying that .
Across the board I'd say I kill more coyotes without a decoy than with one. Forgetting about the numbers, I've got some extreme reactions with "Gus" my full body mount yote. That's kinda of fun, but a drag to move and set up.
ive used this method to some degree of success. first find a willow or young sapling about 30 to 40 yards upwind of your position. tie a chunk of fur or some feathers to the top of the willow. no trees in the area? just staighten out a coat hanger and tie your lure to the top. then run a lenght of thin cord or some thick fishing line to the willow or coat hanger. when u satart calling... give the cord somesharp jerks to imitate a ruccass is the brush. for a hands free stand...just tie a loop in the cord and loop it over your foot. lots of moving parts but i swear its worked for me. makes for an interesting bowhunt
people round here use dogs push them. Decoy to me means something visible placed in a strategic location. I have seen alot of decoys advertised (really nothing more than a stake with fur,and what looks like a coon tail spinning on top).
A call is an audible sound. personally i have a rabbit in distress call. Crow call should work too. since your calling alot, check out the electronic ones (check local regs before buying).
I hunt and call coyotes but never with a decoy. Seems this year a decoy may have helped me as I had more hang up 800 or so yard out than I ever remember.
I see that flambeau makes a yote decoy where the legs pop off and fit into the body. Combine this with a shakey rabit and a foxpro! Now that would be the deal.
Rumor has it that elec. calls for coyote hunting should be legal next year in Alberta with some limitations. Hope it is so.
If i figure i have a good chance of setting up a decoy without getting busted I'll use a turkey feather tied to a stick, shove the other end into the snow. Any breath of wind makes it flutter.
I use various mouth calls, Sceery for rabbit distress and Primos 'Lil dog howler is a good place to start. Before you know it you'll have a dozen or so 'favorite' calls.
Well i've been out doing a little scouting & found a fresh deer carcas in a real dense part of the woods . Lots of coyote tracks so I got a fawn in distress call .
I also found a lot of coyote track's on another section witch is pretty much open with brammbles scatered here & there . Lot's of rabbit & partridge in that area .
Any tip's you guy's have would be great I'm a noob to coyote hunting .
Best decoy I used was a white platic grocery bag tied on a small shrub. The wind gave it life like action and it fooled many coyotes. Best thing was its cheap and when you move you just stuff it in your pocket.
Waaay to many gimmicks on the market that are only there to attract the hunter and his $$ not a weary coyote.
We use a wounded rabbit call and a couple different howlers. I do have a quiver critter rabbit, but I can't say it has bagged me anything yet. The wounded rabbit call works great though, especially after a barking session with my two howlers, as if there are a couple 'yotes hunting a rabbit and then start the wounded rabbit routine as if they just caught it. That has proved VERY effective! GRIN. I plan on picking up a fawn in distress one as well. I've never used one of those but I expect in an area where they are hounding the deer bad it would work awesome.

Here's the last victim. 45 pound female bagged by my 13 year old with his .222 Savage 340.
