I was finally able to get out and call some coyotes yesterday and thought Id share my pics (crappy cellphone pics)
I'll have to say that the .204 shoots like a lazer beam and is a super accurate round, my farthest kill was 266 yards and held straight on his chest but.. it really lacks the take down power of my 220 Swift.
As you can see it got real messy...lots of blood but Im cool with that as I have no desire to save fur.
I did 9 stands and saw about 20 coyotes, lots of doubles and 1 triple came in but... only managed 4. Took pics of three and the fourth was so messy I opted to refrain from photoing him.
I typically hunt valley's, love the high terrain and find that coyotes really stack up in creek and river beds, I attached a pic of my favorite hunting spot.
I had the FoxPro out and it was really cool to see how coyotes respond to different sounds. Rabbit distress calls worked OK but the pup distress and dying house cat was just awsome.

Cheers!!

This area is crawling with coyotes and Im the only one hunting it :D

What bullet are you using? The Hornady Vmax and Sierra Blitz King, for example, the typical factory fare, will kill yotes but they are 'varminting' bullets and were not intended for predators. There are heavier constructed bullets (eg. Berger) that are better suited for that purpose.

Btw, I wish I had a yote hunting spot like yours. :p

Im just using the factory Hornady 32 gr VMAX, I don't have any dies at the moment and can only get these rounds here. Im going to reload here in Jan. when I make my pilgramage to Cabelas in Wpg.

Cheers!!

Awesome!!
Give the 39 grain Blitz a try, they are a great round in that rifle. Looks like you may have things under control already though.
Is that rifle the Tikka/Sako? if so then avoid the 40 grain Horandy, they are horrible in that barrel, very few people have luck with them.

Loved the pics!!!

Heartwarming story, I like.

Do you use the Foxpro with any extension speaker(s) or just the basic unit?

Is the list of calls you describe included with the basic Foxpro package?

Did you use a bait decoy like a rubber rabbit or whatnot to focus incoming predators (or maybe that's not necessary in open country)?

Why did you choose not to use your 220 Swift? An ammo issue?

Cheers,

FM

I just use the basic Foxpro 416B w/ factory calls, I don't use bait or decoys, don't really need them.
I didnt choose the Swift cause I was an idiot and sold it :(

I was out yesterday for half an hour while I was cutting wood. Saw 2, but they were running like bullets. Saturday I am spending the full day out.

What time of the day did you get them?

Good Shootin !!!!:)

The gang here took about 130 coyotes last year. This years deer hunt was done in 2 and a half days. less yotes = more deer.

I'm going out soon, to find that big guy leaving tracks behind our farm.
