coyote hunting

My son is 20 1/2 months old and when we watch Randy Anderson DVD's he just sits there pointing his older brothers Red Ryder BB gun at the TV while blowing on a Ki-Yi mouth call and when it is time to shoot the wily coyote he says "Boom Boom"...

Thats my boy... :D

At the NAFA sale in May '08, coyotes averaged $21 - $33. And that's for carefully cased, fleshed, stretched & dried pelts. I keep hearing fellows claiming to get $20 for whole, unskinned coyotes! Why can't I find buyers willing to do all the work for a mere $10 or so

The FHA (www.furharvesters.com) cash advance on coyote this year is $0.............so I wouldnt be holding your breath for to much on anything but the best pale western select good this season.

We have a buyer that comes to our area every year and buys up our dogs in all states,ie. skinned or unskinned. Depending on the size, color and condition of the hide(shot up) we are getting $10 to $25 each. The skinned and fleshed hides are maybe $5 more. The biggest factor is that this guy leaves with a 24 foot cargo trailer full from the southern area of the province. These guys want 700-800 dogs on a trip so volume is the word. In my small town about 8 guys supply around 350 dogs alone so if you want a dealer to buy whole you have to have volume.

Thats great to hear that you guys arent just going out culling them and leaving them behind. Good to know that their pelts are being utilized. What do they do with the meat? It seems like a cool "sport", unfortunately ive yet to see a yote on vancouver island. We have wolves though. Hmmmm ;)

They are by far the most challenging animal ive ever hunted, they are extremely smart. There is not too many things like the thrill of calling a coyote in .

X2!!Here in the east at least with low numbers compared to out west they are very challenging and you'll work long and hard for any shot opportunities.I'm sure I seen more yotes last Spring driving truck around southern AB in a week than I seen all winter calling in NB.They make deer hunting seem like child's play IMHO.
