This one killed at dawn today was my fourth this fall, shot was touch low at just under 300 yds, shooting from kneeling with crossed sticks. Equipment: Anschutz/CIL 900, .222 Rem, 40 gr. Nos. BT Leupold 3-9 compact.
Haven’t been hunting to seriously lately, but after a long break I went out this morning looking for coyote. First location behind some hay bales was a bust, so continued to my tree stand. As I was sitting there, a thick fog rolled in and it felt like a movie. Started the e-caller with jack rabbit distress calls and after 10 minutes of calling, nothing. Then to my surprise, one of the farm dogs (Great Perinese) came up from behind. LOL. Was about out to call it a morning when the farm dog perked up his ears, then ran back to the farmyard. To my surprise I heard a coyote yipping in the distance. I put a coyote challenge call on the e-caller and sure enough a big male came bounding in through the fog looking for a fight. Hit it him on the move at 100 yards, standing from the tree stand. First shot hit him in the belly, he ran over the burm and that’s where I finished him off with a chest shot. Not much left if the pelt but I’ll make another skull mount with him.Pic of the oak tree and my tree standDog down...Happy Hunting,J_K_S
