Whats a good Coyote rifle on a low budget? I will be either be looking mostly for a used rifle..

All the .270's i have came across on here are $600+ :(

A .270 is an extremely powerful, and flat shooting rifle.

The .22 centerfires are a better choice for Coyote specific rifle, unless of course you're looking for something Deer capable too.
BTW A new Stevens 200 will run under $400 brand new... ;)

A better question would be to list the none affective coyote guns. Any rifle that you are comfortable with would be a good one! I use 22-250 or my .257 wby.

why do you want a .270??

I live in St. Catharines and I use a .204 H&R Handi rifle--$350

I would suggest a Stevens 200 in .223 or 22-250. $350-$400. Depending on where you buy.

You could always upgrade the Stevens when you want as well.

"...on here..." That'd explain it. Some guys think their rifles are worth more than they really are.
"...on a low budget..." Got a price range in mind? You insist on a .270?(not really a bad idea. It'd give you a deer/bear/moose rifle too. A .22 centre fire won't.)
Epp's is listing a used Ruger M77 is .270 at $499. No sights. A Parker-Hale 1200C with a scope, in 6mm Rem, for $499. A Lakefield 93M .22 Mag, with a low end scope, for $229.

I hunt coyote,
if i was on a budget,
my first choice: Stevens 200, short action in 22-250.
But for multi-purpose, 243 win or the 7mm08 are awesome shooter.

Savage 111 FCXP comes with a scope as a package. Somewhere in the $450 to $500 range.

Do you want a heavy barrel or a tapered barrel? Are you keeping the fur or pest control?

243 is a 6mm class of bullet. Lots of option for reloading with good accurate bullets.

204 Ruger isn't bad. 22-250. 223 is reasonably cheap if you are not reloading.

So, are you stuck on .270 or will you consider the smaller calibres usually selected for varmint rifles, and what's the budget?

I was asking around aBOUT THE .270 as was told sure they are very fast and carry for long distances. But gotta watch out for the City Bylaw's up here. a .250 or less may be better..

IMHO the .223 is the best coyote round. You need to look at the total cost...rifle and ammo. Aside from the 7.62X39 which isn't accurate long range or suitable for the game, the most cost effective ammo for coyote's is the .223. So look for the least expensive quality firearm in that caliber. That's my 3 cents (inflation effects).

Caliber restrictions in Southern ontario allow for 270. Unless it's a bylaw which are few and far between and not often enforced.
