Coyotes in sask liscence

No. Coyotes are varmints, not game, so for a Saskatchewan resident no license, no season, no limits. To shoot anything on private land you need the landowner's permission.

If you plan on doing anything with the coyote like selling to a fur buyer or selling the hide to a fur auction, you'll need a trapping license.

And as a SK resident there is no license required to hunt coyotes. Canadian resident hunters and non-resident hunters (U.S etc.) however are not allowed to hunt coyotes in SK. It's a SK residents only game!

I see lots of them and always wonder if I should put down a few to help the deer population. how ethical would be?

The deer won't mind. It used to be part of the work of wolves to keep down the coyote population, just as coyotes will suppress foxes - predator competition. But we've suppressed the wolves in much of the province, so if you like deer, yes, kill coyotes.
