CQ-311 and Atchisson 22lr conversion problem

I bought an atchisson mark 2 22lr conversion kit off the EE to use in my Norinco CQ-311 and cannot seem to get it to fire. im going to try to get some photos up tonight if possible.

I brought it to the range because there is a 22 fun shoot tommorow and I really wanted to use this rifle, but i guess im SOL. About only 1 in 10 rounds will fire, it looks to me like the hammer of the rifle is not making contact with the firing pin of the conversion unit. i tried several brands of ammo including CCI, remmington, winchester and federals.

any advice or help is appreciated

confirm that the hammer isn't hitting the firing pin by using chalk or baby powder on the pin or hammer and see if it leaves a mark.

If that is the case, you may have to shim your conversion kit back until it makes contact.

hmm... good thinking, i thought having a machine shop make me a new pin (longer and file it down until it works), but the shim idea is good too

what would i use to shim it?

anyone got suggestions as to a way i could easily shim this in the mornong with something common i may have around the house? it would put me in the game for the fun shoot if i could get 'er done

If you have a set of feeler gauges, you could cut them to fit.

nope, no feeler gauges, that probly would have worked though.

what if i chopped up a 223 brass, heated it, and slipped it over the 'barrel' of the conversion?
