I looked the definition of CQB Close Quarters Battle AR 15 in Wikepedia.

my question is what makes or defines an AR 15 CQB?

Is it the barrel lenght or the fact is has rail or what else?

yes why is this? What is so great over 12.5 that you wouldn't want to go to 14.5 or down to a 10.5 barrel. Seems to be in the middle of nothing. What am I missing?

Dunno, the only 12.5" I've seen is that flashy Noveske Muslim-Slayer IV upper or whatever it's called.
