Did yer dicks fall off ? You guys knew I could not resist that one!

Okay, seriously now; what kinds of new things did you learn? Modified prone? Magazines work? Lots of lube on the BCG? Sling tangle you up? Cheap airsoft pouches are just that: CHEEP! ha ha ha ha

All good learning! :D

Handloads work perfectly? Dillon reloaders are da bomb? 77 grain Sierra Mk's are too expensive for inside 35m ?
SERPA holsters cause #### loss?

I'm just getting packed up for the CQB Clinic in Petawawa. Time for those shooters to get their "eyes on" and focused!

Cheers all... hope you learned a poopload of information!

Barney :)

I learned that I frequently have problems chambering the first round using the charging handle, and that I can't hit a hun's head at 25 yds.

Other than that, it was a great clinic!

First timer to CQB. Had a blast. Hoping to put more time in on the ranges in Borden later this summer.
Thanks to Tim and the Kingston crew for hosting an outstanding weekend. Well done.

Hey Hungry, thanks to your clinic the old M305 ran without a single mechanical issue....now operator issues on the other hand......

Hey guys!....Had a great time, glad a brought lots of clothes. All gear worked great. And very happy with the way my AR ran. And my CZ75 loves the Hun's head! What did I learn this weekend? To "double tap" faster than I have before. Which made all the difference in the world!
Thanks again Tim!

I had a great time and we proved that driving hail is no deterrent to the Canadian CQB crowd. I actually prefer that to summer heat, if I had to choose.

I learned that most of my PMags are pinned to 5.0 rounds and don't work when loading from a closed bolt. I realized I've always loaded from an open bolt so that issue caused some minor problems (good practice for under pressure stoppage drills though!).

Number your mags! That little tip helped me weed out the 3 worst offenders for the above and save some frustration.
You need 5 mags, so own 10. Until you have "proven" them, there will be some culling.
Hitting a Huns head at 20m is tougher than it looks, so make sure you know where your sidearm "prints" and take your time on those critical head shots or the body hits don't count.:bangHead:

It was great to meet more like-minded shooters. Hats off to North gunner for traveling a long way and pretty cool to see him rockin' the M14. Makes me want to run mine next time - especially considering you can't shoot .308 in that kind of match at my home club.

Thanks Tim for sharing your time and knowledge. You just might see me at Borden this summer, so be ready.;)

Haven't tried CQB yet?... DO IT!!

Agreed! Also another great tip, "NUMBER YOUR MAGS", and buy more than needed till you figure out which four or five work smoothly, during your CQB matches! Dont show up with 4 or 5 mags and then find out one of them is FUBAR'd..then your short for your match!
Thanks again Tim, and Mark. Great match, great weekend.

It was a great weekend and the crappy weather on Saturday seemed to make it better for some strange reason.

+1 on the mag vetting. I found out that most of mine do not load on a closed bolt.

This was my first ORA event and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the upcoming Service Rifle matches.

Thanks to everyone who attended for helping make the weekend so much fun.

Well many of you have discovered that the skills and drills are all common to Service Conditions IE: Service Rifle and Service CQB. The basic fundamentals apply to all platforms but the mag changes, IA (immediate actions) drills, and rifle handling are all transferrable (sp?) to Service Rifle Matches. :D

Many of you in the Kingston and Quebekistan areas might want to consider the SR matches in Connaught Ranges, Nepean , Ottawa . It's challenging and a poopload of fun! Many of you live close to Ottawa...give it a go! :) You have gotten your feet wet already.

I'm attempting to do the same for the Petawawa / Pembroke area black rifle and pistol shooters; get them out to the ORA fun!

Thanks for sharing so far!

Any more observations from the few more of you who have had time to process this weekend's experience? Do I sound like an annoying teacher ? ha ha ha ha

That's the plan!

Cheers,
Barney

for modified prone position, where do you guys put your pistol holster? I figure whether you put it on your side belt or using thigh rig, your pistol will still eat grass. I don't want my Sig eat grass :(

My pistol (CZ75), and holster is easily moved more to the back, when shooting mod prone position. I run a hip holster, so I just slide it way back before hand, almost to where your back pocket would be.

Sounds like you guys are getting things figured out. You may find that the mags your having problems loading with a closed bolt will work better once the springs get worn a bit more, or if you can spare it take a round or two out of your mags to allow for more compression. Just a thought. Let me know if it helps.

Any chance you are American? These guys are working with 5 round mags as it is, loosing a round our two is a big deal. LOL.
Properly pinned mags will work okay loading on a closed bolt.

The weather was insane! The range flags were buzzing like chain saws. We had everything from driving rain and snow, heavy winds, and the odd sunny spot at the end of the day. Very challenging service conditions. Cold weather gear and rain gear made the difference!

As Hungry would say "Put down your Purse!"

You Sig will be fine lol
