What an awesome weekend!

Thanks to Hungry for a great clinic and for helping us noobs to be safe and switched-on!

Another big thank-you to Chalkriver for organizing this!

A huge thank you to our RSO and guest instructor for taking time out of their busy schedules to share their expertise and experience with us!

Oops: I forgot to thank our sun-burnt sentry for keeping Range Control happy!

Four hours on the road now and I am at the Hwy 60 Timmy's in Huntsville. Life is good.

I have many things to be thankful for. I am thankful for my kind hosts; Petawawa Gun Club for I inviting me here. I am thankful for a great point man and organizer like chalkriver who worked tirelessly to get the BBQ and its propane tank rolling for our two lunch sessions. He was also a super ARSO, that sounds wierd doesn't it? :)

I am thankful to our RSO named J who put up with my extreme safety nazi routine so that we can sort out some bad habits before they hinder the more advanced shooting moves. He was great.

I was also pleased to have our "guest instructor" come and lend us a hand on the firing line. It was an added bonus for you clinic shooters. You guys will never see the work that these sources of information can do ;)

Well I have two more hours to get home to its time to hit the road. I got a Timmy's wireless signal here on my iPhone.

So for the rest of you, what are you taking away from this clinic?

Debrief away!!!

Cheers, Barney

[/IMG]Just got back from the CQB course, I had a GREAT time, and I can't wait to do it again. The weather was great, we had a great group of guys (and girls) we had a great course, rifle and pistol, thanks Barney, Morgan and Jay.
I camped at the local campsite, close and cheap, the biggest expense of the weekend was probably the ammo, although I didn't run out, as promised by Barney.
My only regret of the weekend is not taking a video of the grand finale, the "mad minute". I met a bunch of neat guys, from all walks of life, and I can't recommend it enough. This is the type of thing that will do the most for expanding and strengthening our shooting community.

Just made it into Montreal.
I'd like to once again thank Barney, Morgan, Jay, our special guest instructor, and our slightly sunburnt sentry.

It is amazing what we learn at these clinics which we don't learn at the static environment of our ranges shooting from a bench, with a clean rifle, not under stress and some slight ribbing by some guy who is only a religion teacher.

It's incredible how many nice people from different walks of life you meet participating in this great sport of ours.

I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to improve their skills or get into CQB to take one of Barney's courses.

Well the weather and company was great as well as Hungrys clinic. He always runs a well organized and informative clinic in a safe environment .
It was good to see some familiar faces again and make some new friends.
A only a few pics on the first day .

Some theory and training at the start of the first day.

People are starting to find out what does and doesn't work as far equipment placement and mag changes are concerned

Some more training on a course of fire with mag changes and firing at different distances from the target

Here is a video of that training , keeping your mind in the game as far as safety procedures and round count as well as when to change mags is important. you can hear Hungry give some good advice to our only SKS shooter in the group concerning mag changes...lol . He did very well keeping up and adapting to the course of fire just using stripper clips

I hope to have a copy of the mad minute video soon ...that was a laugh and a good way to end the day .
Thanks everyone for coming out and hope to be shooting with you again soon.
Thanks again Barney for another great clinic and see you in Sept for the Precision clinic

Awesome awesome awesome weekend learned so much meet some great people, thanks to chalkriver and all are rso's and are sentry operator. I'll definitely be doing another clinic with the coolest religion teacher in the world.

P.S. need to see the mad minute video

This was an awesome way to spend a weekend. I had a great time and learned that the retention straps on my chest rig weren't my friend. Things went a lot smoother once those got cut off!

To anyone thinking of going, I'd really recommend this clinic. The stuff we got to do was definitely not something I'd ever be able to do at my home club.

My pistol got dirty, my rifle got filthy and by the end of the clinic they both looked clean compared to me!

Thanks again for putting this clinic, it was a blast (and then some)!

Ok, finally have a couple minutes to post. Tough taking a weekend off and dealing with the backlog of work.

Massive thanks to Hungary, Chalkriver and our unnamed guests.
As always anyTactical Teacher clinic is a ridiculous value. You will never be able to get more knowledge, experience and public humiliation for less.

During the course of the clinic I learned that my "solar collector" vest was not a "good choice". The muzzle break on my rife performs beautifully in a standing position than then transforms into the most effective way throw dirt and debris into your face and surrounding areas while shooting prone.

The group of people at the course were also a major plus. I really enjoyed the great conversation and camaraderie. Every one seemed to go out of their way to help each other out.

Every one in the Ontario / Quebec border should really harass Hungary to do a M14 clinic in our neck of the woods.

P.S. To Chalkriver,
I sincerely hope you get a new BBQ for Father's Day.

Bravo Mr Hungary & Chalkriver!!!

Mr SKS (Alex) and I had a fab time at your course. We will be annual regulars now. Good company, good teaching, lots of bullets was had by all!

I really enjoyed using my AR as it was designed for. I hope to see the same group next time we have this clinic. I could not have asked for a better group to share my AR bonding time with! LMAO!!!!

You have turned Mr SKS into a monster! He is now bent on building a ultra AR to out do you all next year, so watch out!!!! LOL.....

OK, now to get my M14 zeroed and take Mr Hungary's M14 clinic - Woo-Ho!!!

OK - the Mad Minute was a waste of bullets, missed everything, made one hell of a dust ball, BUT the fun factor was OUTSTANDING!!!!

Cheers!
