CQB training and Competitions!

Check out "action rifle league"... There are threads in the service rifle forum (usually run in Abbotsford). They have an FB page or PM longshot for more details. Great matches. And great people

The OP lives in the Lindsay, ON area and the drive to Base Borden, ON for CQB, Service Rifle, and Precision Rifle clinics & matches might be onerous (big words here).

So I'm letting them decide if the Milcun Training Complex would be a better fit, since it's just North on Hwy 35 from Lindsay, ON. Google the Milcun Training Complex and Operational Shooting Association. Then follow the links to their 2015 Calendar. See if that is a good fit for your desire for training and competition. :)

Frankly, there are enough good training venues here in Ontario!

Cheers and keep helping them nooobies out there!

Is there a list of cqb competitions anywhere in southern ontario
Time to head over to the Service Rifle forum and see the stickies at the top. One of them is the ORA CQB sticky. You will find the season's matches there. I just competed at one today and made lots and lots of early season rifle and handling mistakes that cost me a pile of points. Remember that this is a match and game. It ain't a deployment. Don't want anyone here to confuse the two. LOL

Darn autocorrect and glass keyboard on my iPhone !

I will be re-emphasizing many of the teaching points with my own mistakes today. It's all about the learning. When we cease to learn anything new (read: open mind) then we are dangerous (metaphorically and literally).

In my teaching career of thirty years I've run across know-it-all people; they are most un-happy and miserable. So I better not become that person. I need to keep learning in my old age. Ha ha ha ha

There does that help?

Cheers, Barney

Will do thanks.

The Action Rifle League activity is run by Longshot and he is a living legend. I've had the wonderful opportunity to shoot alongside (read: against him) and also as part of his 4 man team event squad. He is the true example of sportsmanship and humor. He wins but does not cheat or gaming it. He is a true "hard holder", it's a compliment and term I learned from Distinguished and Double Distinguished US Army shooters. Take advantage of Ryan's matches and expertise advice. He is a true Master! :)

Cheers and always glad to help you guys out!
