I mean, look at this group. Sure, this was a Spreewerk P-38, made in December 1944, with the enemy at the gates, but 2 shots out of 8, of bog cheap bulk 9mm, not even touching? Unacceptable.

On the plus side, it was nice to spend a sunny, summer afternoon, with a slurpee, listening to the sounds of the classics.

What distance did you shoot at?

Just 10 yards, single hand. Not far, but I have trouble doing that with my Beretta.

These CYQ P38's don't have issue with barrels. Its the slides quality you have to watch out for.

Aware, which is part of the reason I just shoot bulk Blazer FMJ out of it, which is anything but hot. I also only take it out once or twice a year, but I just can't let it gather dust in the safe.

Ya, that’s why I bought a P1 to complement my P38. Like the Op, I only shoot the P38 occasionally as I would hate to have a cracked slide. My P1 has the hex pin so should be good to go for quite some time.

That's not bad at all with single hand shooting. You are good shot. I doubt I would be able to do the same with my P1. Its aluminum frame was a big mistake. Makes it too light for my taste.
Nevertheless, I'll try next time at my indoor range.

Just patience and zen. Most days, if I pulled a group like that, I pack up, because it just isn't going to get better.

Some days, the world just vanishes, and the groups get small.
