Cratered Primers?

I am new to reloading and have started working up a load for my 22-250 savage axis. I've heard a lot about cratered primers and excessive pressure and I just want to make sure I'm working safe. In the pics below, the Winchester brass is the 45gr Winchester white box. The Federal brass is my own load of 33.1gr Benchmark pushing a 55gr VMax bullet. I'm using Winchester LR primers. the COL was 2.350 and the case length was 1.908. I had no problems working the bolt after firing. Do those primers look cratered to anyone else? I'll add that the primers on my lower charges of 31.6, 32.1, and 32.6 all looked about the same to my untrained eye.

They look OK to me, if the primers looked the same for the lighter powder charges. Some guns just tend to leave cratered firing pin indentations.

I'm not seeing any indications of excess pressure on those cases/primers.

Primer edges are still very round.

Your Savage probably has a generous sized firing pin hole. This will show cratering around the strike area far before excess pressure levels are reached.

Regards, Dave.
