I just started reloading for an old ( made in 1958) bolt action Brno 22 hornet. The set of dies came with a factory crimp die. Do I need to crimp 22 Hornet for bolt action box fed?

For function purposes, with jacketed bullets - it seems that an expander about 0.002" less than bullet diameter, and at least one caliber deep seating, holds a jacketed bullet just fine, even after repeated recoil cycles sitting in the magazine. Not an issue at all in a single shot rifle. I think the crimping gets more important in cast bullets with a crimp groove, to get more "bullet pull" so the pressure can build, or when using shallower seating depth, or if your expander is too large for the bullets you are using. I have been loading centerfire jacketed bullets since late 1970's, and do not ever recall ever crimping a jacketed bullet in a rifle cartridge - all bolt action rifles, though. I don't think you can actually crimp into a jacketed bullet, unless it has a cannelure ring engraved in it at the crimping location - LEE Factory Crimp die excepted.

No need to crimp. If you have enough neck tension to start with, it’s useless to crimp.
Less you disturb the neck ans squeeze bullet..better it is for accuracy.

+1 on that :)
