Critter identification please

Excuse my ignorance but do they pose as much of a problem as coyotes to livestock?

Livestock being chickens and turkeys? I lock everyone up at night but they free range during the day unattended.
Foxes are not noted to effect big game, however, they are tough on migratory and upland eggs, hatchlings and adult birds. Great for controlling rodents.

So far all guesses have been wrong, it is a fine specimen of the almost extinct long legged prairie hedge bagger.

If it’s a fox you will want to make it go away otherwise all your chickens will go away…
A yote will remove all the chickens too but a fox can squeeze itself into some small holes and crevices

1/4" Hardware cloth on the outdoor pen an fasten it to the outside of the coop and underside if it's elevated. Keeps the weasels out too. The fox will exterminate any rats the chickens will attract.

My coops are all 1.5" square wire fence and the bottom are old chain-link fence stapled to the bottom board. I'm going to guess these guys can't get through chain-link fence (2" square?) but after seeing what a packrat can get through, (3/4" hole) nothing will surprise me.

My birds go to bed at night and I lock the door behind them and let them out after first light. During the day I have a small herd of standard weiner dogs guarding the farm. 😆

Here they are on high alert ⚠️ 20250329_183306.jpg
