Looking to buy a cronograph and am looking at 2 models ,

Chrony's Beta-Chrony
Chrony's F-1 Chronograph

I am just looking for a basic easy to use model , I dont think the F-1 has the memory and the beta dose .

is the memory worth the extra dollers? opinions please

BCBoy; I started out with the F-1 some years ago, but soon switched to the beta model. I think the extra features are worth it, but many I know are just as happy with the base model. If you decide to use some of the available remote stuff, the beta has the capability. Regards, Eagleye.

The new Green-coloured F-1 will also take the remote printer if you want to add it later.

I personally use a F-1 and a pencil. For me it works well as rather than shooting strings from a single rifle I may be working 4 or 5 different rifles in rotation on any given range visit. For me it is easier to keep track of several different slips of paper than to remember where in the chronograph string I switched rifles.

What eagleeye said. I just haven't made the jump yet from the F1. Gets to be a pain getting up all the time to read the Chrony if the sun is at the wrong angle.

Excellent Chronos though, you can't go wrong with either.

Take care

Bob

A basic Chrony has given good service to me for years. I don't run big strings or do a lot of statistical stuff, I just use it to test my loads to confirm their velocity.

Some people claim that more expensive chronographs are more accurate and that Chrony's are not accurate. I once did a test where I shot thru both an Oehler and a Chrony back to back then reversed them and in did it again. I got identical results. The first in line read a few fps faster both times.

The basic Chrony is not fancy but it does the job as accurately as anything below laboratory grade equipment.

I just bought a Prochrono, very impressed i have had a Chrony for over 20 years it severed me well but i find the Prochrono is not as fussy when i comes to lighting. It also has about twice the shooting area.

+2. Extremely easy to use and great memory which can be reviewed later. Minor peeve no removal face/display like the master series SC's. Not a big deal for cartridges but ML shootng saboted loads I have a sheild to ensure that it doesn't take the impact. Ask me how i know this???? It's how I ended up with a prochrono instead of replacing my shooting chrony with another:eek:!

Mine is the digital model, bought in the us for under 100 USD.

Personally, I think all extra options as memory, statistics and printer are useless. You can do it all and much more later on your computer. The thing I find usefull is to have your display right on your table. So, my choice is F1 Master.
