Hey guys,

Today I received my A.R.M.S. 18 M14 scope mount and rings. I followed the instructions to the letter from my understanding and to me it looks almost crooked, with the muzzle side pointing slightly to the left.

Does anyone see this? If so any idea of a fix?

Thanks

Once you do the fix as presecibed in Hungry's sticky you will also need to relieve the handguard away from the receiver about a 16th of an inch and cut a slot in the handguard for the screw to sit in. Having the handguard touch the receiver and that screw pressing down on it will cause eratic fliers as the barrel whips and causes the handguard to "Hit" the receiver and the mount via that screw!

Try taking the handguard off and re-installing the mount to see if it straightens out, you might find it does wonders. Then make those relief cuts that I have described in the handguard and try the mount again.

Remove the C clip that holds the side bolt onto the mount.
Try mounting it again.
I remove that clip everytime I mount an arms 18 ;)
And check for handguard interference as suggested above, but for sure, ditch the Cclip.

The C clip or "horse shoe washer, is found on the back side of the main side mounting bolt. If yours is not new and does not have this clip, the problem could be something else.
On EVERY chinese m14 and a few M1A rifles, removing that clip has been the magic bullet to a left hand offset situation with the arms 18 and the promag clone.

Dont cut a notch in your handguard , contact Hungry and he will send you a new allen head screw for the front of the mount....

And if Hungry has run our of em, which he probably hasn't, I also have a large baggie of those allen screws. Also free to anyone who needs one ;)

Thanks for the help guys! It is a brand new mount - I will remove the c clip later today and let you know how that turns out.

The c clip was the culprit. After taking the mount off, getting rid of the c clip it alligned perfectly. Mounted my Burris Fullfield II and am ready to go... I think...!

Good to hear, wish mine was here. The scope, rings, and cheek pad are waiting for its arrival.

Have a load for you to try. Was using 7.62 brass so increase the charge accordingly if your using .308 brass. 155 A-Max and 42.6 grains IMR 4895 COL 2.80". Should be good for around 2650 or so. According to my ballistics program that makes it better than the 168 grain match out to 600 yds with the load you were using. I think I may be switching to the 155 A-Max.

I will definitely give it a try when I can head up to the store again. I am also stuck waiting my cheek pad - went with the black hawk stich up. What did you go with?

Is this a common issue with the ARMs 18? I've mounted two and have never had a problem with the clip causing a misalignment.

If installed properly the C-clip is countersunk into the mount, but if it is hanging up on the mounting bolt threads it may cause the clip to hang up on the side of the recessed hole preventing it from countersinking properly.

I've found that it's about a 50/50 thing with chinese rifles and the arms 18 and not a catching on threads thing on the ones it needed to be removed on. I remove it now on all of em as once tightened onto the rifle, that clip serves no purpose.

I have not had to remove it on the 3 LRB M14SA receiver's I recently built and installed arms mounts on.
