Just wondering if anyone else has ran into this issue with there socom 18 or norinco m305’s When I first got the rifle i found that the gas plug is tough to unscrew...tight-free_tight-free_etc. until it is removed
I unscrewed the gas cylinder lock and screwed the gas plug into the gas cylinder, it threads smooth but the plug is still bent/crooked ?
I think either the gas plug Norinco threading is botched or the gas cylinder Norinco threads are.
When it is tightened I can see that the plug does not sit flush to the clylinder lock.

I dont think its cross threaded, either the gas plug threads are messed up or the cylinder threads are as the gun was like that since new. I may replace the whole gas cylinder with an idf one if possible

Your gas lock is out of spec.

I’ve seen this quite a few times, if you centre the gas lock, the hole that your gas plug spins into is not centered in the gaslock.

Hey john what is the best route to go with this? It was like this when the gun was brand new and now im running the dlask adjustable gas lock. Should i just replace my gas system to an idf one?

Is it tight and binding with the Dlask gas lock as well?

If so, a different gas cylinder would likely solve the issue. It’s pretty tough to diagnose the problem without being able to get finger prints on the unit.

The IDF-USGI/SAI-commercial gas cylinder “should” slip right into the barrel. Sometimes they need a little tapping to slide all the way down to the shoulder on the barrel.

Yes it is. I ordered a new gas plug from marstar and will try that when i get home from work in a few days. If that doesnt work then i will replace the whole gas system with an idf one if wolverine still has any left. Is it better to replace the gas sytem with another norc one or should i go usgi idf if possible
