Hey everyone,

I recently bought a savage Mk2 G (bolt action .22LR) and just bought a scope for it. When installing the scope rails, and rings, I quickly noticed that the rings are not straight up and down, relative to the stock. When looking down the barrel, the rings are angled to the left a couple of degrees. Additionally, the iron sights are angled to the right several degrees... is this normal? Does it matter? Should I be looking to warranty the gun? I did contact savage customer service, but I've heard nothing from them.

Any help appreciated!

I would not worry about it. I install my rings loosely. Then install the scope loosely. Then tighten up the scope and lastly the rings on the rail. That is how i mount a scope and rings. Doing it this way squares the rings on the scope. Then they sit and tighten however on the rail.

Everyone has there way of doing things.

Ok, well maybe this weekend I'll install my rings and get it sighted in. I guess that it would only be a problem if it was significantly off centered (thinking inches), but I'll probably not be shooting over 100m, and most likely around 50m. I did get a 3-9x nikon prostaff, so i would be able to hunt small game out to longer ranges.
