I just installed one on my 177 cal converted 2240 that shoots 480 FPS with the stock hammer spring. Took me a lot of spring clipping and tuning to get it under 500 FPS.

WOW it seals much better than the stock plastic breach.

….and looks so much nicer! Late 90's 1322 with LPA rear sight.

I've been thinking about these steel breaches for a while. There used to be a .177 Walther barrel IIRC, is that the barrel you got or just a crosman replacement?

Why doesn't Crosman offer these pistols at a higher price, with the steel breech already on them? And, with the factory rear sight in place on it?
It's a fair bit of extra $ to spend, especially if you want a rear sight.

They do called the 2300T and comes with the LPA rear sight.

A very good upgrade to an already great gun. I've seen some .25 cal mod kits for these guns that supposedly still get over 400 fps with standard .25 pellets. Do you have any other mods?

Dennis Quackenbush made custom 2240's in .25 caliber but doesn't any longer....D+L carries several different wood grips as well.....Harold

It was cheaper for parts for me to buy a custom pistol partially modded to strip for parts to cannibalize as well as a stock 2240 to build one and sell the other.Steel breech,.22/10" barrel, polished/modded valve for smoother CO2 flow with walnut grips. Will add a custom brass velocity adjuster ,LPA rear sight ,shoulder stock and a brass muzzle brake with black steel pin front sight. Came with a 4 MOA Red dot as well. These can be modded for HPA as well but best for carbines to keep them under 500fps.[keep in mind there are two different lengths of steel Crosman breeches short/long if optic are in the cards get the long version]

I upgraded to steel breach on my 2240, 2250, and 2289 a few years ago and no issues what so ever with them. its a must buy for any 22XX air gun platform

I built a custom 2240 in .25... Bought a BNM repeater breech for it, and increased the barrel length to 18". Without messing with the valve or spring, it was perfect for keeping fps up. With lightweight 20gr pellets, they shot around 485 fps. With standard 25gr pellets, I chronied them at around 455 fps. It does a solid 24 shots per CO2, so I bought 3 of the M-rod repeater mags so that I know when to replace the cartridge. Turned out really nice!

At about 14" from what I've read with the 2240 platform barrel length slows the pellet and drags the last few inches.Supposed to be the most efficient length so they say. Is your .25 barrel choked and what brand Lothar Walther ? My custom 2240 is almost complete and I have my MK1 back all new seals and polished valve .Will chrony to find out the fps to keep it legal then decide on whether to go for a custom longer barrel to creep up to just under 500fps.................Harold

It's not an LW barrel, and not choked. It was just a normal barrel supplied by BNM. It seems fine, but I wouldn't consider it to be match grade.

That's odd that you'd seen 14" as optimal for barrel length... I've read that 24" was optimal. Makes sense to me, as my 18" barrel is getting surprisingly good velocity. Still, would be good to see a comparison of different barrel lengths and associated velocities with CO2!
