cross border shopping for bullets, brass etc

It doesn't matter whether you are a US citizen or a snowbird, it's exporting ammo or firearms or components and is verboten. Not worth the risk. The Canada border service doesn't care but US homeland security sure does.....and they don't give second chances.

Okay guys here's a news flash...

You may think the US is awash in cheap bullets/brass/powder etc.

It is not.

Most of my trips to the US include a stop or two to a few gun shops/sporting goods retailers... There are no bargains and from what I've seen there ain't much stock either.

So... even "if" there was an easy/legal way to shop for all your reloading essentials in the US you probably won't save any $$ and that's only "if" you can find what you're looking for...

That's my 2cents... :)

^^^^^^^^^^ yup, only savings I ever saw was on pistol ammo, everything else was about the same cost, only difference is there is a bigger assortment, when in stock.......

firearms on the other hand, are a great buy........on most items, once again not all

Your comment sure rings true if you go to Buffalo Gun Center where their motto is littereally, "It ain't on sale... it's for sale".

This is an ATF brochure. It answers my snowbird question.

where you are buying the handgun for 90 days
AND intend to make a home in that State.
❖ For long guns: Have resided in a State for
90 days and intend to make a home in that
State – it does NOT have to be the State

NOTE: Most foreign dignitaries and members
of their entourages WILL NOT be able to meet
the 90-day residency requirement.
AND
2. You establish that you:

2. For fi rearms other than sporting shotguns,
you have an FFL registered with the
Department of State, Offi ce of Defense Trade

license from the ODTC prior to exportation.
