Here is a quote from Cross Industries themselves

There are several small visual differences you can use to identify the two different generations of Cross Mags:
-Gen 2 mags all say “GEN 2” in the text box on the left hand side of the body.
-Gen 2 mags will all have “22” or greater in the date stamp above the mag catch pocket.
-Gen 2 mags have more coarse body texture than Gen 1’s.
-Gen 2 bodies have the top front lateral bosses located further down the body, whereas the Gen 1’s is at the very top
