I've been using Cross Mags in my Crusader Sentinel for a few range sessions now. I think they're a really neat piece of kit and enjoy them a lot but I have noticed two things about them.
I have a total of 160 rounds through them, about 80 in each individual item of the pair. I noticed that sliding in the very first round the rear edge of the brass case tends to catch/snag/dig into the follower and feed lips and it's best to press down a little more on the follower to reduce that friction. Nothing major, but not something I have to do in my PMAG Gen 3s, Hera H3s, CPD DuraMag LAR-15 or STANAGs. Again, totally not a big deal - just wondering if this is something that people do something about or just get used to (or possibly the feed lips wear a bit over time?).
I've put 1000 rounds through the Sentinel and the only actual misfeed (a single round) occurred on the Cross Mag. That might be bad luck or coincidence, but I have noticed other users seem to report FTFs/misfeeds more often on Cross Mags. Any thoughts or confirmations/repudiation of this observation?
Thanks in advance. I'm not planning on getting rid of them - they're very flexible and easy to use (a little trickier on the insert than the other four mentioned) just curious about other experiences with them over time.
