That is not the case since any gun that loads from the muzzle is legal to use during a muzzleloading season.
So it is conceivable to separate the types of muzzleloaders yet crossbows and regular bows should be considered equal?

They'll let crossbows into bow season eventually (fingers crossed). I've sent a couple letters.....

XCR800, they make scopes for compound bows now, so no advantage there. Lots of pin sights available with light gathering fiber optics as well. I have an older crossbow, most of my buddies shooting vertical compounds are shooting similar or better speeds than I am. I admit there is less skill required to shoot a crossbow well than a vertical bow, which means its easier for a novice to use. I don't get how this is a bad thing? You still have to get within the same range to get a shot, the arrow is no more or less lethal, so I don't understand how I am so much less of a bowhunter than anyone else.
I have a cheap a$$ scope with Pi$$ poor light gathering ability if that helps.

Seperate seasons for different classes of weapons? So it would go: long bow; compound bow; x-bow; muzzle loader; single shot; bolt; lever; semi?
As far as I am aware, a compound bow and x-bow both have a effective range of 50-60 yds (haven't shot a x-bow but seen them shot). Both have about the same knock down power at that range. Both require a amount of skill to achive results. Take someone off the street to shot a sighted in rifle and see how well they do! Not as well as some one who has tuned thier skills!
I have taken 3 deer and 1 big a@# moose with my compound and the hardest part is getting THAT close to make the shot.
There should only be 2 seasons; compound/cross bow THEN a rifle/muzzle/shotgun season

You long bow hunters should be ENCOURAGING the use of crossbows. How long till a crossbow hunter starts wondering what it'd be like to use a longbow? You'd wind up with more bowhunters and a better case for bow seasons and areas because you'd have made it easier to get into the game.
In areas where deer numbers are crazy high such as the bow zones tight to south Calgary, allowing extra hunters in with crossbows should help balance the population. That's if the latte crowd let the hunters onto their little land parcels.

I hunt with everything except crosbows and inlines.
I have also hunted for years in the regular season with a longbow and muzzleloader.
Personmally I do not want speciall seasons for the very fact that it seems that a very large majority of people run out and grabb up the latest hi-tech equipment , not to enjoy traditional style hunting but ta take adv antage of an extra season to kill an additional animal.
To me this is very wrong.
I have run into too many people using inlines that talking about the the advantage of shooting them becuase they are "so much better" than traditioanal a muzzle loaders , then they turn around and talk about the thrill of hunting with a "traditional" firearm with the same rig!
It is not the equipment but the ATTITUDE that needs to be controlled , and I don't have an answer to that!
If it floats your boat, shoot it.
But if you think you are going to get around a law or gain some sort of unfair but legal advantage by shooting something hi-tech, don't even try to talk to me, because I don't want to be near you!

On that we agree.Most people simply want to be able to spend more time in the field and most of these people will use whatever weapon is the simplest to use.I actually started bowhunting for that very reason.Not to kill extra animals,but to be able to spend more time hunting.

For the record, I detest inlines, compounds, and crossbows, but for no other reason than I do not like them.
I offer no argument for the stuff I do like to shoot and hunt with other than I like that sort of stuff.
