Hey Guys;

Well, after years of chucking arrows with a compound bow, I am thinking about a crossbow... Main reason is that I just don't have time or a convienant place to practice with the compound and I still want to bowhunt here in Ontario.

So, I had a look at Lebaron's website and saw 3 makes.

PSE --> Most economical
Excalibur --> Mid priced
Ten Point --> RETARTED price for one of them, $2345.00, others are priced simular to the Excalibur products.

Can someone beat the wheat from the chaff on this issue for me? I like simplicity and DEPENDABILITY!!!

Also, I'm going to be using this crossbow NEXT year... I have no hesitation to buy it in the states and bring it home, paying the duty of course... With our dollar, and the way we get hosed in Canada, it might be a great option...

Cheers and THANKS!
Jay

Excalibur all the way. Get the package with the scope and quiver and extra goodie's. I have a vixen, that has served me well, quite "underpowered" from what the new ones are, I keep it under 30 yds, and have had no problems. I think if I were to buy new I would go for the Phoenix, seems like a good price, and lots of power. Ease of use and simplicity are the #1 reason I chose Excalibur, take the string off in the off season, re string, and same point of impact, +/- 1/4". Scary accurate:evil:

Not meaning to hijack your thread, but does anyone know if there are restrictions on buying, import/exporting a crossbow from the U.S into Kanada?

Excalibur x 3 ..

Made in Kitchener/Waterloo... It's the KISS of the crossbow world.

If you doubt what they can do, there's a video of a guy in Africa shooting an Elephant with an Excalibur. I'd start off light with deer, but hey that's just me...

Of the three you list, I'd get the Excaliber. I remember someone (Mad Dog I believe) trying to find a part for a PSE and customer service was lacking. The 10 point has a ridiculous price tag as you already mentioned. I shoot an older Barnett compound I picked up used for $100 a few years ago. It's been out of production for years, but when I was looking for a scope mount for it I sent an e-mail to Barnett. After a couple of messages back and forth, they sent me one no charge, not even shipping. If I was looking to replace it, I would be looking at another compound (probably Barnett) as they are a lot more compact than the recurve Excals.

I will join in with choir. Excalibur all the way. I just bought an Exomax this spring and I love it . fantastically accurate and easy to maintain. I have an friend who has an old exocet about 12 years old and it is in great shape , has stood up very well, just as accurate as my max and it is still nailin deer.

Excaliber is the best. Forget the rest! Go to the Excalibur forum and ask why it is better. TenPoint is a super product, but life will stop if you cut your string by accident. Off to the bow shop for repairs for any compound bow or compound crossbow. Not so with an Excalibur. Just pull out a new string and restring on the spot!

Keep shots to different spots or you will shoot your old arrows out (it's called a robin hood). I have a 200lb Exomag(now replaced by the 200 lb. Exocet). Deadly accurate and very light, well balanced in the hand!

Excalibur pheonix with the lumizone scope, Slick Trick broadheads, aluminum 2216 boults IMHO. I found you have to tune the wasp boss broadheads with a heat gun to get them to fly nice. But they do fly nice after tuning. Read up about strings, some are unforgiving in the event of a dry-fire and limbs can crack. Carbon arrows can splinter in the meat, but are nice for targets.:)
I would ask questions on the Excalibur forum, even stuff about other crossbows.

There is no problem bringing a crossbow across the border and it does not have to be registered as it is not considered a firearm.
