How many years would you be comfortable cocking and shooting an excalibur string after waxing it and leaving it partially cocked with the string puller without being worried that it will blow up on you? Not fully cocked by any means, just the cocking string holding the limbs back slightly.

I'm going on at least 15 years

I had one unravel on me a few months after hunting season. Heard a noise while watching TV and later saw the string on my Matrix 380 had unraveled on one end and came adrift. It was uncocked and on a stand in my recroom. It was in good shape before this happened, or it thought it was.

Ive had mine original string used every hunting season for about twenty years, I havn't used the bow now for about five years, and will replace the string before I do use it again.

My 335 micro eats bow strings. The serving takes a beating where the trigger catches it. I haven't had one last more than 3 years.

I polished the trigger catch, hopefully that corrects the issue.

I guess I'm just worried about cocking it back for the first time. I've been using my compound exclusively for the last week and have had deer come in right at last light to where I couldn't get the peep and the pin on them. I know with the crossbow and the scope I could easily knock one down. Just don't want bad thing to happen when I #### it back.

Older exo series are alot more forgiving and bow strings will last a long time the matrix and micro seem to eat servings pretty bad but my exocet would stay cocked in my truck for weeks on end during bow season without a worry.

When using any bow vertical or horizontal for the first time after an extended rest exercise the limbs . Yours and the bows , pull slowly 1/4 and release ( not dry fire , slowly and carefully let down) a few times then go to half , 3/4 etc. Do this and not only will you , your bow limbs and your string last longer but you will hear warnings before they become catastrophic.
Learned this from Robin Allen , check out his work when you have a min . True old world Craftsman.

I have the micro 340 TD, got it last year. Shot it maybe 40 times. Waxed it twice. I will give it a good inspection at every session but plan on 3 to 4 years use before new string. Love the illuminated scope.
