Crps x/22 series... 10/22, multi-discipline match

"Stock - Shooters using any Ruger 10/22 factory rifle" - so I guess Target and Competition models are allowed as upgrades come stock from the factory?

For those looking to get into precision rimfire, whats the best way to practice until April for an event like this? I have a stock 10/22 that I want to use l, fully knowing I'll need to upgrade to become competitive at farther distances down the road, but just want to get a feel for it before buying another rifle.

Practice shooting offhand at small targets. A project Mapleseed event would be a great way to cover 50% of the stages. Some good prone shooting skills practice would also be good. There are some sniper dot drill targets available. The Project Mapleseed Facebook group and website has practice targets you can download.

Looks like poor overlap with regular CRPS/ORPS at least at the low end; a production rifle would be a tad too basic to do well at X/22, while the low end there is asking for a stock 10/22 with a gorgeous huge piece of glass on top that would take it right out of production at the original matches but be unbalanced as an open entry. Granted, you'd probably start with one of the nicer target 10/22s that wouldn't go in production anyway.

Anyone with a high-end open .22 can just take it straight over and pick their division based on whether it's built around a real 10/22 receiver, a clone 10/22, or something entirely else.

The series was designed to attract other rimfire shooters to the competitive shooting sports. There was some OPRS/CRPS overlap because of the PRS-style shooting at 25-100 and 100-300. Over 85% of the ORPS /CRPS shooters use bolt guns and those that shoot semi-auto would most likely be in the Open division. The series is really all about the shooter and trying to find a reasonable division to group similar equipment. There's some higher end "stock" rifles that will be the choice of the guys with bigger budgets but I expect that you should see some interesting results on who wins this division. This should be a fun series to shoot. Slow/fast, far/close, prone/standing it will be challenging for sure. Hope you can make it out to an event in 2021.
