crusader arms pump action rifle

Trimmed down the back of the spine on the MRX mags about 1/8". That stopped the action being stuck. Of note, the last shot hold open does not engage with these mags. They were made for the BCL bolt rifles and as such the follower does not move up high enough when empty to engage the bolt stop. The follower stops against stops at the front end of the mag body. Not sure if milling away some of the material on the body surrounding the front end of the follower to allow the follower to go higher is wise. Off to the range tomorrow. Will let everyone know here how it went.

Well I didn't get to the range with it today. The province of NB has shutdown crown land to everyone due to the fire risk. My club is private and has allowed operations to continue but discourage it's use. Another club (Moncton Fish & Game) states that the province declared ranges off limit but I can't find proof of that from any statements from the province. I am not sure if our club's land is leased from the province or not, or if the road to the club is legally accessible. So for now until we get some rain, I'm staying home and avoiding the attention that I'm sure to bring. Will report back as soon as I get some trigger time with the PND.

Managed to get in a range session just before they shut her down for the fire hazard here.

First the negative:

1. It did not like 62gr 5.56mm NATO. The action would seize after firing and had to be mortared or both slide and cocking bolt pulled simultaneously very hard, to extract 32 of 35rds fired.
2. Not awesome accuracy. One 2" group but mostly 3" with a few 4".
3. Had to chase the zero a bit. Not very consistent.

Before you speculate, I have a wall of plaques etc to prove it wasn't me and the scope is a 16x I have used reliably for years that was mounted via a PEPR mount. It was shot on a Harris bipod and the butt sandbagged. Had I remembered to bring more sandbags I could have expected better results from bags only.

The good:

1. With 55gr 223 the gun ran well without any hard extraction. Did not get to check accuracy with it.
2. The BCL MRX 20rd mags only needed about 1/8" removed from the back spine. Once done they worked flawless.

Conclusion. I think for now this would be a good rifle for 3 gun or short range tactical matches. Because I have a quantity of 5.56, It is clearly not the 5.56 rifle I needed but if running 223 you will be fine. Keep in mind that this was only my experience and perhaps not indicative of how other rifles will perform.

Another opportunity for people to dump on a Canadian company doing their best to produce something in country that complies with the restrictive laws we all hate.

They deserve better than the hate they are getting here from "firearms enthusiasts" who need to self reality check rather than criticize.

I think it would be a first for Crusader Arms to be ‘doing their best’ rather than ‘doing just about enough’ to churn out some rough product with no FRT, very little QC and no customer support.

Clearly you don’t remember the Crypto QC, pricing or customer support. They’re using the very same ‘mil spec’ (hah!) parts on the PND but it’s $1000 cheaper. So where’s the justification for the crypto being $1000 more expensive? It’s called profiteering.

It’s not like they’re providing a dependable platform for Canadians to fill the gap in the market. More like they’re throwing their cheap ass left over crypto parts into what ever platform they can still legally sell (for now) to try and make a quick buck.

Their hushed dribbled release of the PND suggests they know they’re bringing a turd to market.
 
Well yes I do remember the Crypto and personally purchased 2 BCL rifles that are now prohibited. A lot of people dumped on those rifles too including many who never actually owned or even fired one. Both of my BCLs were decent rifles and I had no problems with them.

I am saying that people who have no hands on experience should not be dumping on Canadian companies who are doing their best to innovate despite our restrictive and ever changing laws.

Last year I walked around the Gun Quarter in Birmingham and the site of the Enfield factory in North London. England has no firerams industry and the country that once armed a lot of the free world is now choosing between a Finnish and an Italian rifle to replace the L85.

I’d say BCL at least has a positive approach to customer service, even if their designs may of had teething issues along the way. From all accounts, they seem to stand by their products and offer hassle free upgrades, modifications and warranties to iron out the creases.

Accounts of anybody dealing with Crusader Arms are quite the opposite; ghosting and gaslighting.

I’m not ####ting on Canadian manufacturers - there are many of quality and repute - I’m just calling a turd when I see one.
 
Can someone please answer the questions about the specter 369 rifle? Never seen this discussed jn other threads and cant find it anywhere

*EDIT* OK, I found out - Yes, it takes AR barrels, & uses AR bolt, but not the carrier.

**Also, is it True, that this company, ripped off customers who Paid or put deposits for the CRYPTO?
If this is true, why aren't people banding together & taking them to Court for their money back? If that's true it's dishonest/bad business/BS..& need to be addressed.

I had an experience with CA. They sent me a thing with the wrong trigger. I selected and paid for the trigger tech upgrade, the one I got was all standard stuff. I emailed them about it, they asked for photos, I sent photos of the wrong tigger, they sent me the whole trigger labeled "Good trigger" < lol. I asked for a ship label or address to send the old standard parts, and they said I could keep them.

Very little hassle beyond the initial mess up and now I have extra parts. I like to tinker so tearing down the rifle to install the parts is something I oddly don't mind.

2 cents.
