crush washers

I have a few used flash hiders without any washers to install them. This may be a stupid question but are the crush washers specifically tailored for gun installations or could I source any crush washer/washers for timing?

I suspect you'd have a hard time finding the correct size/shape for standard crush washers.

Having said that, as long as the washers are uniformly thick (ie. not standard washers that are stamped and have a noticeable burr on one edge), then there's no real reason you couldn't use a 'regular' washer.

I have on occasion made my own washers/shims from shim stock.

Crush washer, as in being made of copper with a circular cross-section and made to crush flat as you tighten the bolt in order form a leak free seal? I would think that if that's what is specified then that's what should be used, no?

I have a mix of copper crush washers and odd ball sized spacer type washers. Anywhere in xanada a guy can order online for gun specific ones?
