Crush Washers

Technically yes...practically no. YMMV

ive never had good results in re-using crush washers in the past... they are cheap so might as well get a new one. They can get really deformed from over torquing them.

never ever had an issue despite the tens of thousands of rounds I have fired in my ARs...ever...

Depends... I have a Smith Vortex on my Armalite, no crush washer there.

I had to ask Walt about the torque needed to install a Stag brake with crush washer on my new Stag. If I recall correctly, you have to turn the brake/flash hider hand tight and then index it between .2 and .7 turn. Under 0.2 turn, the crush washer won't have enough push and over 0.7 it will be too much crushed.

As far as reusing a crush washer, Walt had to wait to send me one because the only one he had in stock had already been crushed... So I would tend to think that once a crush washer has been used, throw it away, don't be a scrooge and get a new one.

Correct me if I don't remember correctly Walt...

It's been awhile...

I torque wrench the FH to 15ft/lbs using the AR wrench tool attached to a torque wrench.

I carefully file the "washer" thin (non-crush type) until 15ft/lbs get it perfectly aligned. This way you are always getting it perfect and it's not stressing the threads in addition to not shooting loose.
