Hi guys. I just ordered a CS American 455 combo (22lr & 0.17hmr) in composite stock This gun will be used mainly for gophers shooting and fun shooting in range. It will be here in a couple of weeks.
I never owned a rimmfire gun before, so any gun specific advice from anyone who owns this rifle?
I also wanted to know what would be a good scope for this (combo) rifle? I am planning to spend $250 max on scope.

For a first rimfire you did not cut back on quality. As a scope suggestion i would go with a SIGHTRON SIH 4-12X40AO. About 185$ and totally satisfied with all aspects. Would be perfect on your CZ 455. Mine is on a Z-5 in WMR.
You will get a lot of suggestions and yes there are better ones out there but the price will go up alot. I ve had a lot of scopes in that price range but this one i like very much. PS. Dont cut back on the rings quality either.
Good luck

Some ppl swear by the CZ, but mine wouldn't group (17 HMR was great, 22LR was the problem) for nothing or no money. Sent it back to CZ, they swapped the barrel but didn't test fire it...same issue. Sold it off to Al Simmons who gouged me badly on it and to this day still think they got the better deal. To this day, it is the only rifle I have ever sold at a loss.

The bore will require a scrub to remove whatever they coat the bore with.
A cleaning rod guide is a worthwhile investment and quality cleaning rods ( one .17 caliber and one in .22 caliber or perhaps a .20 caliber)
The guide rods are cleaning rod size specific.
After that any good cleaner, jags, brushes and patches.
All of this should be done before firing a shot.
Once you start shooting you may want to start with a collection of ammo, and a box of each may show which it prefers.

Great gun. Lots of information here and on rimfirecentral.com. And lastly, take a look at installing a trigger kit.

The 22lr bore will be tight. Mine won't fit a 22 cal rod. I use my 17 cal rod for the hmr and 22lr/wmr. There is some really crazy brown goo that cz uses in their bores. I wish you luck. I scrubbed mine for hours and hundreds of patches and just started to come out clean. Both of mine are very accurate though and would never trade them.

For scope rings look into a d.i.p rail and run any weaver rings you want. Much easier then trying a bunch of different height rings to get the scope high enough to clear the bolt handle.

Good choice of gun.
I have and had a few, all the 22s I've had have been more than satisfied with accuracy wise, my 22wmr is just over 1 1/4" at 100yards and the 22lr's are around 1/2 -3/4" at 50 with regular bulk ammo.
Try lots of brands and weights of ammo to find what it likes and then buy lots of it.
After a while the bolt will smooth out and there are a few ways to improve accuracy without spending much.
