Trying to decide if I should buy a CSA Carbine with a 11.8 inch barrel or go for a Ama-coat 15.5 inch folder. I certainly like the shorter CSA but am wondering what kind of accuracy to expect. I figure CSA should be good out to 50 or 75 metres and could run pistol style courses of fire for fun. I know you should expect to sacrifice some accuracy with a shorter barrel, but how much?

Anyway I would be interested in your experience with this carbine.

I've never shot mine for group beyond 50m but I can regularly hit a 16x22" plate at distances out to 250m. I zero a bit high at 50m which requires a top-half of the plate hold for 200m and holding over the plate at 250m.

I was very very pleased with the accuracy of my CSA 11.5 its shoots smaller groups than my 15.5 cz-858 4v did ?? maybe cause the CSA barrels are brand new and the cz858 4v have surplus barrels??... the other day i was hitting a 12 inch steel gong 95% of time at 250 meters bench rested with iron sights and surplus ammo .. my CSA seems just as accurate as my cz 858 2v 19 inch barrel !! I think the shorter 11 inch barrel has no barrel flex compared to the 18 inch spaghetti barrel this may explain that... but i dont think they come zeroed from the factory like the 858s do, i had to do some minor front site adjustment..

I have a Czech arms carbine in 223 caliber. I'm getting 3 shot groups of about 2 to 2.5" at 100 yds with both winchester 55 and federal 55gr fmj's. Worse with other brands.

This is a tough rifle to shoot well with the strut-folding stock as I find it too short and uncomfortable. I replaced the stock and groups like the above were far easier to get (and more consistant too).

Hope this helps.

accuracy should if anything be better with a shorter, stiffer barrel. You give up a bit of velocity, but nothing concerning, except it will give more drop on longer shots.

Thanks everyone for the advice and first hand experience. I'll pick up a CSA shortly and have a new project to build and play around with.
