For those of you who don't know. I've been doing range report updates on my CSA .223/556 Vz 58 when ever the rifle hits a new milestone. I've been doing so for those who are considering on buying one but are unsure of buying one due to the mixed views of the rifle on CGN. If you would like to view the older range reports, here is a link to the 3rd range report. The 3rd range report has a link to the 2nd and so on.

Recently, I have purchased an AR-15 magwell adapter for my Vz 58. This is by far the best upgrade for this gun. This upgrade not only switches the rifle from using plastic magazines to aluminum or steel, but you also have access to the 10 round LAR-15 magazines as well as the 5rd .50 Beowulf magazines that hold 14-17 rounds of .223. I've never liked the looks of that skeleton stock since the day I got the rifle but really like the full length of pull and its very comfortable to shoot. I purchased an AR-15 adjustable stock for it but I don't yet have a pistol grip to use it. However, since the installation of the AR-15 magwell adapter, The skeleton stock actually looks pretty good. Maybe it was just the plastic magazines that made it look weird. Just an older picture for comparison. The USGI AR mags also drop free when release. Just a note, the only mags that so far work for my gun are USGI magazines. I've tried a black steel magazine that is suppose to be USGI spec but the mag sits lower than the feed ramp making rounds unable to feed. If you're unsure a mag is going to work, just make sure you test fit the magazine and make sure the feed plate is level with the feed ramp and not lower than it.

Accuracy
When I first got the rifle, I didn't get groups any better than a 7.62x39 Vz 58 which was 3.5moa. Then after awhile I started getting consistent 3moa. Now I get consistent 2.5moa with this rifle. Here is a 5 shot target where 1 shot didn't make it onto the paper but we will just disregard that one.
I'm not sure if its because the rifle's barrel needed to be broken in, the shooter gets use to the rifle, or a combination of both. I feel that if I were to put a compact scope on this rifle with 1-4x zoom, I could easily achieve 2" with this rifle.

Just some examples of how well the rifle does with plinking, I mostly run this rifle from the standing position. Bench resting all the time is for suckas. This rifle is pretty amazing well standing. From 200 meters away, I could easily hit both the large steel target and the smaller steel target so as long as the sight was properly adjusted. It wasn't just I who could hit them both but also Westcoaster90 who has had no previous experience with this rifle, could pretty easily hit the steel targets well standing. Lets go a step further back to 300. 3 out of 5 shots I could hit the goat steel target at 300 well standing. Even Westcoaster90 hit the 300 steel goat target. One caution to note about shooting steel targets. Don't shoot concave steel targets with a handgun from 25 meters away!

The .223/556 Vz 58 continues to amaze me every time I use it. Recoil you can barely feel, and if you live in BC where you can legally hunt deer with a .223, would make a good, light weight, short range, semi auto hunting rifle for those who have had a shoulder injury at one point or another in their life. The small, Roebuck type Columbian Black tail we have around here would easily fall to a .223 at short range. If you really want one but are concerned about the mixed reviews, just get one. CSA has one of the best warranty systems and the warranty lasts for 5 years. Not 5 years for the original buyer but 5 years for the rifle regardless of how many times is been bought and sold during that time.
