Ok i was wondering about the velocity differences of the CSA carbine and compact compared to a full size, this video should give us a idea ..

...but he didn't have an 18.5" barrel to use in the comparison! :bangHead:

;)
16.5 and 18.5 won't have much variation many people here have already done chrono testing on the full size cz858, I'm more interested in the numbers for the 11.5 and 7.5.. can't blame him ,why the hell would you have a 18.5 down south ?

I know, just kidding... hence the ";)"

I'm well aware they're not stuck with the 18.5" barrels!

I chronographed an 858 and my 12 inch CZ 2003 Dlask conversion last year using Czech
surplus...

858 Results: 19inch 7.62x39
AVG Velocity: = 2294fps +/- 21fps

DLASK Conversion results: 12inch 7.62x39
Average Velocity: 2119fps+/- 29fps

I have seen so many conflicting reports of muzzle velocities out of the 858. I chronied 154 grain soft points out of mine and got an average of 2100 fps. Not bad, thought that it should have been a tad better with the longer barrel, but this cartridge is optimized in about 16". After that, I think the barrel is dragging on that bullet a bit. I think the 7.62x39 makes the ultimate SBR as it is affected so little by barrel length.
