CSA VZ-58 first 500 round range report.

Finally bit the bullet and brought in a VZ-58, and overall first impressions have been positive.

Ergonomically speaking, while the desire to train on the rifle as close to stock as possible is high, aftermarket parts may find their way onto the rifle sooner than later.

Since this video was filmed we've found that the reloading drill used at 4:10 in the video is done easily enough with a little practice and just requires you to hit the release and mag simultaneously with your bottom two fingers. This allows reloading without dropping the empty mag before palming a new one.

My first firearm purchase! Loving the rifle so far, but couldn't resist the urge to stick all sorts of tacticool stuff on it though.

As a lefty shooter, I prefer the safety on the VZ vs. the AK platform, but the mag release is a bit of a pain. I'm keeping an eye out for a deal on a good ambi mag release. Will eventually look into replacing the pistol grip as well.

Looking forward to the long term review.

Yup. 10 rounders really help out so you can correct your shots. Also if match ammo exists it would be worth it at that range.

Im under 500 but i broke my firing pin. And northsylvia hasent gotten back to me about replacement. Might have to bite the bullet since this thing is just sitting in pieces atm. 3rd worst purchase for me. Im good at picking the lemons apparently.

Got a pic? If not how far under the trigger guard does it sit? Easy enough to reach for a righty or catch with a mag in the left hand for an AK style reload?

G.Mitchell was running one on his VZ and has alot more trigger time with one than I do but I've shot his rifle and really liked the mag release. It extended a generous amount below the trigger guard and should allow a lefty to easily manipulate it with their right hand without any hindrance.

Like stated try Wolverine or even Dlask. They will have them

Love Vz.58...my favourite rifle in the collection.

I was determined to keep her in the condition I bought it (Sporter/tactical NR version) but over the past seven months or so I've added the side rail/low profile mount, a scope, Czech SPFOR muzzle brake, bolt release, FAB Defense pistol grip and the FAB Defense GLR16 butt stock with cheek rest. Love her even more now

I havent been able to find 10 rnders all the ones I find are 5/10 pinned. You selling your VZ58? in its current state?

He has the mag adapter to run AR mags in his rifle is all it is.
