Howdy - I am fairly well convinced that I cannot travel with my CZ 858 to the USA. Can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether or not the CSA VZ58 can be taken to the USA?

Thanks!

Thanks for the tips, tratserif. I was hoping someone had already gone through the trouble of making the enquiries... Anyone?

I want to do the same. I had assumed the Sa VZ 58 was good to go because they sell them state side.

I've called the form 6 people and left a message, seeing how alpining doesn't want to call.

I'll post when I get a response.

I'm just surprised nobody has made the inquiry before. Looking forward to hearing what you find out.

I haven't anything yet but my current Form 6 has: ARs, SL8, Enfeild, Valmet, Rugers, PS90, Egyptian

Shouldn't see it as a problem.

Last time I spoke with the ladies there they said it was, more or less, Combloc stuff that wouldn't be approved.

Don't bet on it. even though the civilian Tavor is also available stateside, as a Non NFA firearm, it is not importable on an ATF form 6. Give them a call, they have always been amazing

Just called right now and spoke to "Mike" in the imports department. I explained I was resubmitting my Form 6 and wanted to submit a VZ.58.

Mike said "no", in Canada you have the CZ.858 but down here we have approved and imported the "VZ.58 Sporter". You can not bring the CZ.858 down because our tech department has not inspected it.

I then explained that we have 2 similar rifles in Canada: the CZ.858 and the VZ.58 Sporter. (I believe mine says "CSA VZ.58 SPORTER" on the reciever)

He was unaware that Canada had a VZ.58 rifle.

Mike concluded by saying "We'll if it's the same VZ.58 we have then, yes it will be good to come down".

That was the best attempt I could muster for transcribing the conversation for memory.

CSA completely legal to bring across the boarder as it is a US manufactured rifle. Hence totally good to go on the form 6 entry :p

They sell them state side but are CSA Vz 58 rifles are completely made in Czech Republic well the Century Arms and Czech Point Vz 58 rifles are only partly made by CSA. The rest is made in America to be 9/22r compliant.

They're not made in America. They're made in Jablunka Czech Republic. The Czech Lion is a proof mark that the gun is made in Czech Republic. All Czech gun manufactures put the Czech Lion on there guns if they're made in Czech Republic. The CZ-USA shotguns don't have the Czech Lion because they're not made in Czech Republic.

Just for good measures, here is a picture of my CZ 550 with two Czech Lion proof markings on it. On the barrel and the receiver. Now stop saying CSA guns are made in America! This grinds us Czechs gears as much as idiots that say Burno instead of Brno. Or dumb asses that still call us Czechoslovakians.
