CSA VZ in 223 or CZ858 for my first long gun

Looking to buy my first long gun. These guns look the same but shoot different bullets. What Should be my first long gun?? Not looking for a hunting gun, but something to to blast a the range or take camping??

Yes, so long as you buy soft point, MFS, Prvi makes it and Wholesale and Cabellas should have it. Although I have heard of some exceptions in certain provinces. I would always use the soft point for hunting just to be sure.

Get the 858.
Lots of cheap ammo and it'll give you a good lesson in gun cleaning.

858 you cannot go wrong with it and it wouldn't be my first choice for hunting but if you do choose to use it make sure you don't use FMJ's, easy to clean and ammo is everywhere and cheap! Definitely a fun gun!

Actually, I've bought a BNIB SA VZ-58 Sporter 5.56 first (beautiful finish rifle) as it's not always in stock (sold out everywhere). Later, the CZ-858 7.62x39 Canadian wood furniture version (preordered) will be my next.
