Hello,
I just ordered a case of 7.62x39 and now looking for a rifle to shoot it.
I'm interested in a short bbl CSA VZ58 but was wondering if there are any long term concerns on the design eg. bolt life.
Am I wrong to assume that the bolt was designed for the 18.5" version and that any shorter bbl length may put added stress on the bolt (after numerous rounds)? I love the looks of the shorties but.....

Will the bolt take the punishment of a short bbl rifle?
Your thoughts are appreciated.

No worries. The original VZ58 was designed for a 15.5" barrel. Length of barrel in this cartridge will matter not. 7.62x39 is not extremely high pressure and actually is very efficient in shorter barrels compared to other calibers. In fact, it gains very little - if not almost nothing in the 18.5" barrel.

saskcop, thanks for the info.
I haven't read any negative reports on short bbl/bolt problems on these rifles so far.
If nothing comes up after a bit more research I'll have to put an order in for the 11" Sporter/brake model:D

Ok...I just ordered a CSA VZ58 Sporter (11.8"). It's my first "RED" firearm and I'm excited!
My AR may be a little jealous sharing the cabinet and range time.
